The pedestrian killed when she was struck by a driver on Hwy. 169 in northern Minnesota early Monday has been identified as a 14-year-old girl.

According to the State Patrol, 14-year-old Dakota K. Jones and a 13-year-old girl were walking in the southbound lane of Hwy. 169 when they were struck by the driver of a Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

The deadly collision happened around 1:25 a.m. near Coleraine in Itasca County.

The State Patrol says an 18-year-old man driving the Monte Carlo was driving southbound when the girls were struck.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene and the 13-year-old victim was airlifted to Essential Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth with what the patrol described as non-life-threatening injuries.

No details have been released by authorities as to where the girls were heading when they were struck.

A GoFundMe for the family of Jones says she was a student in the Greenway Public School District. To donate, click here .
