Daniel Callihan and alleged accomplice 32-year-old Victoria Cox are being charged by both states in connection with the murder of Loranger mother Callie Brunette and the abduction and murder of her daughter Erin.

In Mississippi, the two suspects are now charged with capital murder and sexual battery.

“These individuals were a threat to those kids, which means they were a threat to all of our children,” said Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade.

Callihan recently agreed to be extradited back to Tangipahoa Parish. However, he’s still being held in Mississippi and officials say federal charges could be coming.

“I expect there will be federal charges, particularly as it becomes multi-state issue, and I imagine the feds are going to pursue their case heavily from what I understand in the state of Louisiana,” said Tindell.

Mississippi authorities say that as of now, their case is as strong as ever.

“The progress in this investigation is a direct result of our combined resources, expertise and dedication. This case exemplifies the importance of inter-agency cooperation,” said Mississippi Bureau of Investigation Lt. Col. James Herzog.
