Josh Fisher headlines 'Race for Riley' at Double-X Speedway
CALIFORNIA, Mo. — The 11th Annual “Race for Riley”, Riley Hudson Memorial Race was held on Sunday July 14th at Double X Speedway on the outskirts of California, MO after rain postponed the event for a week. Family, friends and racers alike gathered at the quarter mile dirt oval to honor a young race fan with a personality as big as the world. This year would have been Riley’s 21st birthday and her memory was honored with all classes running 21 laps in their feature events. To go along with the racing action the night is on the calendar of many young racing fans as Riley’s family and friends make the night all about the kids. Bike giveaways, special prizes for young fans in attendance along with a Frisbee toss and more are always on tap at this special event.
Huskers take seven titles at Speedo Summer Sectionals
Six Husker swimmers competed at the Speedo Summer Sectionals this week in Columbia, Mo., combining for seven titles and a school record. Gena Jorgenson won four events and broke her seventh school record with a 2:14.39 in the 200m backstroke. The rising junior from Aberdeen, S.D. became the first Husker swimmer to be named a First-Team All-American with her eighth-place finish in the 1650 freestyle at the NCAA Championships this season. Jorgenson added wins in the 200m freestyle (2:03.66), 400m IM (4:54.38) and 400m freestyle (4:18.29), while also pitching in a fifth-place finish in the 200m IM (32.65). Giulia Marchi finished close behind Jorgenson in the 200m freestyle and 400m freestyle, taking second (2:04.00) and fourth (4:26.71).

Last Friday, July 12th was another beautiful day on the Katy trail. We rode from North Jefferson to the boat ramp near bridge to the info board overlooking the river. Those riding were Alvyne, Charlie, Donovan, Ginni and Rich. The canopy of green and the moving through the lush vegetation is relaxing and good for the soul.
FGCU-Bound Izzy Ackley Wins Women’s 50 BK in 29.26 on Final Day of Columbia Summer Sectionals
LCM (50m) Results on MeetMobile (“Region VIII Speedo Summer Sectionals”) The final day of the 2024 Columbia Sectionals is in the books. The last day of the meet saw Izzy Ackley from Parkway Swim Club win the women’s 50 back in 29.26. Ackley, who will be attending Florida Gulf Coast University in the fall, swam a 29.25 in prelims. She holds a career best of 28.84, which she swam at the Spring Sectionals meet in Columbia back in March.
