Washington man accused of assault after being told he couldn’t live at woman’s new apartment
A Washington man allegedly upset after being told he couldn’t live at a woman’s new apartment is accused of assaulting her. The incident occurred at the Tiffin apartment of the victim Wednesday afternoon. According to the arrest report, 26-year-old Barron Cunningham became angry when the woman told him he couldn’t live with her at the new apartment. When she said she was going to call 911, he allegedly grabbed the phone from the victim’s hands and threw it beside the refrigerator where she couldn’t reach it. Cunningham’s actions reportedly caused her pain and left red marks.
National Weather Service says no evidence of tornados from Tuesday storms
A National Weather Service team says Tuesday’s storms showed no signs of a tornado path and instead showed evidence of straight-line winds. The Gazette reports a survey team went Wednesday to the area around U.S. 1 and Phebe Lane, west of Highway 218, and found tree damage but no path of a tornado. A survey team also could not confirm reports of a tornado near the West Branch area.

Iowans take kayaks down flooded city streets
INDIANOLA, Iowa — KCCI viewer Gentry Burton shared photos of her adult children kayaking down a flooded Indianola street this week. The Warren County town saw about 5 inches of rain Tuesday as strong storms pushed across the state. The storms prompted several tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings, as well as flooding and flash flooding in a number of areas.

Rainfall totals & tornadoes from the July 1st storms
On the night of July 1 into July 2, several rounds of heavy rain moved across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. While most of us picked up on some rain, there was a corridor of very heavy rainfall amounts from Seward to Sarpy County to Des Moines. In this band, some locations received over 6" of rain, leading to significant flooding. One of the hardest hit areas was South Bend in Cass County, where a Flash Flood Emergency was issued for homes that were flooded.
