Lubbock, Texas — Lake Alan Henry Park superintendent, Armando Gonzales, told EverythingLubbock.com their lake offers many types of fish and with the summertime rolling in, many people will be able to catch them because they are out and biting.

Gonzales said, “Largemouth bass, spotted bass, flathead, catfish, channel, cat and white crappie. so that’s a good thing for us because the fishing here is outstanding.”

Gonzales said people have options to fish there.

Gonzales said, “A lot of the people that fish out here like to do catch and release. They just enjoy the fact that they’re catching something. They’ll take pictures and they’ll catch you. And least you can’t take fish home. As long as there’s legal size, as far as edible fish, you can eat them. Just make sure you cook them properly. And you should be able to eat all the fish that are in there. Catch them first before you eat them.”

A fisherman of over 50 years, Travis Findley said a hobby like this, is a waiting game.

Findley said, “Well, they do not really seem to be biting too much today. We’ve had more trouble with the turtles trying to take the bait. But, you know, we’ve got probably three and one fairly good size one.

Findley is not a born Texan but has lived in the Hub City for several years.

“I grew up in Oregon and fish probably since I was old enough to throw a party poll out there. But it’s totally different fishing in Oregon and streams and very few lakes and rivers and you fish a lot more for trout.”
