AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The United Family announced that multiple non-profit organizations across Texas and the High Plains received a combined $500,000 after the recent 33rd Annual Jacky Pierce Charity Classic golf tournament held in Lubbock.

As noted by the company, the JPCC golf tournament has raised more than $6,500,000 for non-profit organizations in Texas and New Mexico since it began, named in honor of the longtime produce director for United Supermarkets. After the most recent event in August, beneficiaries included the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon as well as others in the Texas Panhandle and High Plains region.

“Making a positive impact on our communities is at the heart of our mission and, after all these years, the Jacky Pierce Charity Classic continues to be a major part of that,” said Sidney Hopper, president of The United Family, “The non-profit organizations, including The United Way, who benefit from this tournament do an outstanding job of improving our communities. We know these funds will greatly impact the thousands of people they serve.”

Officials detailed that tournament beneficiaries included:

“This tournament would not be the same without the amazing relationships of our vendor partners,” said Hopper, “Not only does this event support an important cause, but it also allows relationships between like-minded companies focused on helping their communities grow even more. That’s why it means so much to all of us.”

As noted in previous reports, organizations such as the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon supply funding for local programs focused on providing for the health, education, financial security and basic needs of community members who otherwise may not qualify for government assistance. The UW of Amarillo and Canyon noted that one in three people in Amarillo sought help through its programs in 2023, while more than 56% of the area’s community members qualify for one or more of those programs.
