PLANNED OUTAGE: Four-hour outage to affect these areas Wednesday night

KANE COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Customers of Garkane Energy Cooperative in South-Central Utah can expect to lose power for several hours on Wednesday night.
The energy cooperative posted on social media Tuesday to inform residents that the outage was scheduled to begin at 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday night. The outage was planned to last about four hours, into the early hours of Thursday.
Residents of Kanab, Mt. Carmel, Orderville, and East Zion were expected to see the effects of the outage, according to the social media post.
“We will be finishing some upgrades to that part of the system,” the post explained.

Garkane Energy Cooperative, Inc. oversees power in some areas in South-Central Utah as well as some parts of North-Central Arizona, including several national parks and national monuments.
How to prepare for a power outage
Whether the outage is planned or not, another power company that serves Utah — Rocky Mountain Power — has offered some guidelines and tips to prepare for a power outage.

Some items that Rocky Mountain Power suggests to keep in an emergency kit are listed below:
Water
Have one gallon per person, per day
Non-perishable food
For both people and pets
First aid kit and essential medications
Copies of important family documents
Cash
