The ESPYs are almost here. That's right, the sports award show that ESPN hosts has a similar format and feel to the Oscars. These athletes, much like any actor or actress, are the best of the best at their craft. They have made it their life, and take it very seriously. You could say the same about the teams that get awards, too, like the Kansas City Chiefs.
They could add some more hardware to their already full trophy case.
On July 11, we will find out which awards the Chiefs are going to win. Because let's face it, they will win at least one award. This is a dynasty and a team that is on the verge of becoming the greatest NFL team of all time if they do win this three-peat.
The Chiefs are up for three awards. They are up for the Best Team Award, the Best Male Athlete Award, and the Best NFL Player Award, which of course are both for Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs may very well win all three of the awards, and, they should, to be honest. They have been the best sports team for the last few years. They do have the best athlete on the planet right now in a guy who isn't even 30 yet, but somehow has three Super Bowl rings, three Super Bowl MVPs, and two regular season MVPs.
I think for sure, the one that is guaranteed is the Best NFL Player Award because he is. There is no way around that. Mahomes will win that award - point blank period. He could win best male athlete, but then again there are so many great ones around the world.
Team one is a bit tricky because they weren't the best team during the regular season. They weren't even close. They struggled a lot and were not dominant. But, turned it on when it mattered most, and that's the stuff of legends.
So, we will just have to see what happens. Mahomes and the Chiefs have already won several of the awards.
