Recovering from a serious injury takes a toll not just physically, but mentally.

Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu is working hard on both aspects. He started a YouTube channel titled "The Journey," chronicling each step of his recovery. He has also shared workout clips on social media , while also calling out any doubters he may have.

When he isn't working out or doing rehab, Omenihu has been keeping himself busy with other activities. He recently attended a youth football camp hosted by NFL trainer Jeremy Hill (also attended by former Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson) and told KPRC 2 Houston's Aaron Wilson that "it's always good to pass on knowledge."

Omenihu also talked about how he's staying patient throughout his recovery and keeping a steady mindset.

“It’s going good,” Omenihu said. “Slow process, everybody told me it was going to be like that, but it’s been decent. Honestly, right now, I’m steady, I’m cool. I got to be like this. I kind of keep myself like that, just stay plain and we’ll get to the point where I ramp it up like that.”

Omenihu recently attended Paris Fashion Week as well, along with many other NFL stars, and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the event.

“Paris was legit,” said Omenihu. “It’s going to be a yearly thing for me. I wish I could have stayed out there, to be honest. It was fun. Paris Fashion Week was everything I needed it to be. I enjoyed it.”

Omenihu's work ethic to get back on the field as quickly as possible is great, but it's also good that he's staying balanced and enjoying other things. If everything stays on track, he should be back sometime during the middle of the regular season . It will be a tremendous boost for the Chiefs' defense when he returns and strengthen their chances for the coveted three-peat.

Omenihu appeared in 11 games with one start in 2023, recording 28 total tackles, five tackles for loss, seven sacks, two passes batted, and two forced fumbles in that span. He appeared in three playoff games, recording three total tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble.
