The Kansas City Chiefs have seemingly suffered their first true training camp injury as the three-day head start for rookies, quarterbacks and injured players wraps up on Friday.

It's the Chiefs' tight end room that took a hit, as second-year TE Gerrit Prince was not spotted on the field at practice on Friday morning. He was later seen riding in the back of a golf cart (which is rarely a good sign) with a walking boot on his left foot. Prince is one of three tight ends in attendance during this early portion of camp alongside rookies Jared Wiley and Baylor Cupp.

Fox 4 KC reporter PJ Green snapped a picture of Prince in the cart.

There's no word on how Prince suffered the injury or how long he could be out. Andy Reid won't speak to reporters again until Sunday, so we likely won't get an update on his status until then. This injury leaves the Chiefs with just five healthy tight ends: Travis Kelce, Noah Gray, Jared Wiley, Irv Smith Jr., and Baylor Cupp.

It's worth noting that Prince suffered a foot injury last season as a member of the Chiefs' practice squad. The injury saw him placed on the practice squad injured list in mid-December. He finished the season on the practice squad injured list before re-signing with the team in March . This could be a reaggravation of that injury. The injury also explains why Prince was at training camp during the rookie/QB headstart. Injured players are permitted to attend this early portion of camp.

A Shawnee Mission Northwest grad, the 26-year-old Prince has yet to make his NFL debut. It looks as if that could be further put on hold with this injury. Prince originally signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2022 before joining the Chiefs' practice squad in September of last season.
