    KCPD investigating shooting that left one man dead in Kansas City

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Police Department is investigating a homicide after a man was shot and killed in Kansas City, Mo. Saturday night.

    According to KCPD, officers were dispatched on reports of a shooting near 9th Street and Prospect Avenue at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday. However, KCPD officers found a crime scene one block east of the original reports, at 9th Street and Chestnut Avenue.

    After officers arrived, KCPD reported a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and began performing life-saving measures before EMS arrived.

    The man was then taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead, KCPD said.

    According to police, the shooting is being investigated as a homicide, and patrol officers were able to find several witnesses.

    Crime scene investigators will continue to canvass the area for evidence.
