Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt's daughter rushed to hospital after falling from mountain

Ava Hunt, daughter of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt and his supermodel wife Tavia, required emergency surgery after "falling down a mountain".

The incident happened earlier this week, with Ava – who will attend Southern Methodist University and has already made the cheerleading squad – suffering a "deep wound" to her leg in the fall. Ava, 18, was hiking before being rushed to hospital, where she immediately underwent surgery.

Tavia, a former Miss Kansas USA, shared the news with her social media followers. "This little thang fell down the mountain today on a hike [and] went to the ER for surgery on a deep wound," she shared on Instagram with an old snap of her and Ava smiling.

"It's been a looong [sic] day. Praise God she's in recovery and already smiling. Please pray for a quick [and] complete recovery!"

Ava was back home in time to watch Simone Biles perform in the Olympic beam final and shared an update with her followers. She posted on Instagram: "Surgery went very smoothly and I'm back home watching my favorite Simone Biles. I'm feeling great but I might still be a little drugged up. Thank you for all of your sweet messages and prayers."

Ava is Clark, 59, and 53-year-old Tavia's youngest child. They also have 25-year-old model Graicie and son Knobel, a sophomore soccer player at SMU. They stand to inherit Clark's $1.4 billion personal fortune, according to Forbes, as well as his quarter share of the Chiefs.

He is the grandson of oil tycoon H.L. Hunt and son of sports pioneer Lamar Hunt. Lamar was the founder of the AFL – which soon merged with the NFL – and Major League Soccer. He died aged 74 in 2006 and the AFC Championship Game trophy carries his name in tribute to his legacy.

Ava regularly attends Chiefs games and shows her fandom on social media. She has become friends with music icon Taylor Swift since the 14-time Grammy winner started dating superstar tight end Taylor Swift.
