The airport and middle school were matched together through the airport’s Soaring Scholars program.

About 40 students spent the day learning about airport operations, hangers and planes.

They also got the chance to visit with the aviation engineers, pilots and other industrial professionals.

“We want them to see early what their potential is and how we can work with them to reach that potential moving forward.” Clinton National Airport Public Affairs Director Shane Carter said.

The students who spent the day at the airport are part of an aerospace and aviation class.

The goal of Monday’s trip is to expose the students to careers they might not have considered before.
