Top Riders Roll to Salt Lake City Criterium p/b LHM This Weekend
The race began in 2019 as a built-for-pro racing event bringing criterium back to the heart of Salt Lake. At the time, the Tour of Utah was an institution on the UCI calendar and looked set to continue to be a premier cycling event in the United States. With that energy at its back, the Salt Lake Crit was a convenient companion event, plugging into the enthusiasm a large UCI stage race can bring to a cycling community.

BYU coach says Utah, others will get ‘rude awakening’ on Big 12 physicality
By Kenny Lee, All Utes: The Big 12 will be adding a few former Pac-12 teams in 2024. They’ll be following in the shadows of BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF, who were invited to join the conference in 2021. There was widespread speculation that they would quickly become top contenders in the league, especially with Texas and Oklahoma’s impending departures. However, their first season in the Big 12 proved otherwise.
Across State Lines: Utah Removes Rodriguez as Coach
The expansion Utah Royals have had a rough go of their first season back in the NWSL. The Royals sit with a 2-11-2 record through 15 games, at the bottom of the NWSL standings with eight points. They’re ten points outside the eighth and final playoff berth in the league. With them as an expansion team, success likely wasn’t guaranteed to begin with, but the disappointing season has cost head coach, and former FC Kansas City and KC Current player, Amy Rodriguez her job. Rodriguez was removed from her first professional head coaching job. It certainly seems like a harsh decision given Utah’s roster in their expansion season.

CU Buffs opponent preview: Behind healthy Cameron Rising, Utah favored to win Big 12 title
A second consecutive trip to the Rose Bowl, on Jan. 2, 2023, could not have ended any worse for the Utah football team. The 35-21 defeat against Penn State was disappointing, but losing quarterback Cameron Rising to a severe knee injury in the third quarter was devastating. Rising tore the ACL, MCL, MPFL and meniscus in his knee and wound up missing the entire 2023 season, which led to a subpar year for the Utes.
