NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (KCAU) — More than a month after catastrophic flooding , McCook Lake residents are still trying to put their lives back together. Community organizers are working to help residents reclaim some normalcy.

Whether it was their entire homes or simply their personal property that got swept away by water, McCook Lake residents lost a lot during the June flooding. As rebuilding continues, the McCook Lake Association has started a lost and found Facebook page to try and to reunite people with their lost items.

“The people want their stuff back, they want to know where it ended up.” caretaker Renae Hansen said. “Even if it is garbage at this point, where did it land? As the things are washing up, it really puts into perspective the homes that are gone and the pieces of the homes that are gone.”

The page is private, and you must be a McCook Lake resident if you want to join.
