SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Ronald McDonald House Charities of Siouxland (RMHC) is continuing to celebrate its 30th anniversary with updates to the family kitchen at the Ronald McDonald House in Sioux City.

The renovation is part of an expansion in outreach services by RMHC after help from an anonymous donor. A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday showed off the renovations that will provide a new and improved kitchen for families.

“These types of facilities are very important we were the first ones,” RMHC executive director Christy Batien said. “We were the first ones in the RMHC system worldwide to do a program like this, and since then other places have started up something similar or the same thing as us, so we were kind of a template for this across the world.”

The Ronald McDonald Family Kitchen opened in 2006 to make sure families are getting taken care of while their newborn is receiving treatment in the NICU.
