2024 Construction Season

It’s summertime, and you know what that means: ice cream, beach days, lobster rolls, and roadway construction. Most roadwork is done in the summer because the weather provides ideal conditions, and the longer daylight hours allow for more efficient work. Additionally, summer breaks in school schedules reduce traffic.
Franklin Street Parking Changes
The City of Biddeford’s Downtown Committee recently voted to open up the parking area on Franklin Street near Palace Diner and across from Sacred Profane to hourly paid parking at a rate of $2/hour. This lot was previously reserved for long-term permit holders only, and the change will open up a significant amount of customer parking in a thriving area of our downtown.
Ongoing Exhibits and Art Walks

The most recent exhibit, in the temporary location of the Goodall Memorial Library, 1364 Main St., Suite 11, in the Shaw’s shopping center, is a fundraiser for the library. Artists will donate 20% of sales proceeds to the library fund. Exhibiting artists include Searra Canfield, Urban Coombs, Terry Jellerson, Paula Pettyjohn, Robert Mongue, Traci Nason, Ila Nelsen, Evelyn Nitzberg, Marie Wilson-Lago and Hilary Zayed. The library exhibit will hang through the summer. Thank you, Ann Thomas and library staff, for your support during our hanging sessions.
