KENSINGTON — The state attorney general's office is responding to a report of an officer-involved shooting Monday night, where an adult man was fatally shot outside a residence on Olivia Lane.

The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to a press release issued by the state attorney general's office. An autopsy, the release said, will be scheduled by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

"No law enforcement officers or members of the public were injured in the incident, and there is no known threat to the public at this time," the release stated.

Police responded to Olivia Lane following what the attorney general's office described as a "disturbance that triggered a shelter-in-place order" for nearby residents around 3:45 p.m. Monday.

Kensington police asked residents to shelter in place at 3:49 p.m. due to a "possible barricaded person with a firearm."

"The Seacoast Emergency Response Team has been actively deployed," police stated in a release posted on its Facebook page. "Please remain in your residence."

At 8:40 p.m., police reported the shelter-in-place request was still active.

The attorney general's office stated the "exact circumstances surrounding this incident remain under active investigation."

Pursuant to protocol, the names of the officers involved in the incident are being withheld pending the conclusion of formal interviews, according to the state attorney general's office.
