The Pelicans exercised Alvarado's $1.99 million team option for 2024-25 on Friday, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. An undrafted point guard out of Georgia Tech in 2021, Alvarado has solidified himself as the Pelicans' top backup point guard over the last three seasons and will likely maintain that role heading into 2024-25. During this past season, Alvarado averaged 7.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 18.4 minutes per game across 56 appearances.

The Hornets waived Curry (ankle) on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Curry was traded from the Mavericks to the Hornets in February but had his season cut short due to a right ankle sprain. Across his 43 appearances for Dallas and Charlotte, Curry averaged 5.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.9 three-pointers in 14.3 minutes. While the 33-year-old Curry will head into the offseason as a free agent, both he and the Hornets reportedly have interest in reuniting on a lower-cost deal.
