Kermit man arrested after touching himself in front of neighbor

WINKLER COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – A Kermit man was arrested Friday after allegedly exposing himself to the public on more than one occasion.

According to WCSO, on Friday, July 26, deputies responded to a residence located in the 800 block of Sourth Avenue D, referencing a reported indecent exposure.

The female complainant reported that she returned to her residence and while sitting on her driveway, her neighbor, identified as 53-year-old Alfonso Chavez, of Kermit, Texas, removed a piece of plywood that covers an otherwise open window to his residence. Chavez then allegedly began exposing and touching himself innappropriately in the public view. The complaintant provided deputies with video evidence of the offense.

The complainant also said Chavez hs committed this offense in the past and reports have been made to the Police Department but criminal charges were never filed. A WCSO deputy filed an arrest warrant for Chavez. That warrant was executed at Chavez’s residence, where Chavez was found hiding under a bed and refusing to come outside.

Once deputies entered the residence, Chavez reportedly surrendered himself and was taken to the Winkler County Detention Center and charged with Indecent Exposure with two or more previous convictions, a state jail felony.
