Carry the Load memorial relay makes it’s way through East Texas

TEXARKANA, Texas ( KTAL/KSHV ) – Memorial Day is known for cookouts and retail sales, but one organization started a national movement to highlight the meaning of the day: to honor fallen soldiers.

Carry the Load’s Memorial May Relay will pass through Texarkana on Thursday. Runners will make several stops throughout the city before heading through East Texas. The community is invited to bring a lawn chair, bring out their flags and cheer on the runners. Meetups are taking place at several spots along the route so runners can join in.

The relay passed through Hope, Ark., Thursday morning on its way to Texarkana. Stops began late in the morning in Texarkana, Ark. and will begin on the Texas side Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

From there, the relay will continue through Redwater, Omaha, Cookville, Mt. Pleasant and Winfield in East Texas before continuing on its way to Dallas. Join in or stop by and cheer on the local runners at the stops below:
