FRANKSTON, Texas ( KETK ) – Brierwood Bay residents were left in shock after an EF1 tornado touched down in their neighborhood during Thursday night’s storm.

“The trailer just started shaking,” Brierwood Bay resident Alvin Willbanks said.

With no warning, Alvin Willbanks recalled seeing lots of wind and hail before the unthinkable happened.

“And before we knew it, I hollered to my brother, get out, get out, get out, and it just, and just in just an instant, a tree came from the backyard and then fell,” Willbanks said.

One of the trees in his backyard crashed through the home right into his brother’s room. Everyone including Carla Begley couldn’t believe what just happened.

“I was in the bathroom with my dogs, but it went over so fast and it was so quiet,” Begley said.

Residents were met with trees unrooted, debris everywhere and homes damaged. A few injuries were reported but no one was killed.

“I want to just say, praise the lord,” Brierwood Bay resident Mary Dorris said.

Now clean-up has begun, but so far Willbanks and Begley have said no one has come to help besides neighbors and family.

“As of right now, it’s just been family, family help, like right here is my uncle and my two cousins, this is the most help we have gotten,” Willbanks said.

With so much damage that still needs to be cleaned the residents are asking the community for help.

“Any help we can get, any volunteers, we really appreciate it, the neighbors are helping each other as much as they can,” Begley said.

They added that they need tractors and trailers to get the work done.
