NACOGDOCHES, Texas ( KETK ) – The City of Nacogdoches said that a 15-inch sewer line break has leaked over 100,000 gallons of sewage into Lanana Creek on Sunday.

City officials said they were notified about a possible sewer line break at around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. Crews found a broken 15-inch in diameter sewer line running behind 4541 NE Stallings Drive.

According to the city, contractors have been contacted to make repairs on the pipe. They warned residents walking along Lanana Creek trail to not come into contact with the water or let their pets near the water.

The city said that staff will be monitoring downstream of the leak to determine how safe the water is for the public and that they’ll announce when any cleanup efforts are undertaken.
