Six juveniles were arrested in Kewanee early this morning after police said in a news release that they were involved with stolen cars out of Peoria and Brimfield.

The Kewanee Police Department received a notification from its Flock Camera System that a stolen vehicle from Peoria had entered Kewanee city limits on July 4 at about 4:15 a.m. Kewanee Police Department officers and Henry County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the stolen vehicle at a gas station in the 300 block of Tenney Street. Another vehicle that had been stolen from Brimfield, but not yet reported, was also found at the gas station.

Five juvenile suspects fled the scene when officers arrived. One suspect was immediately arrested, and officers found a sixth juvenile suspect inside the gas station. The remaining four suspects were found and arrested shortly after they fled. Several community members saw the suspects running and/or hiding and called the police.

All six were arrested and taken to the Kewanee Police Department, where they received Juvenile Referrals and released to their guardians or DCFS custody.
