BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Houchin Community Blood Bank (HCBB) is offering a special promotion to encourage blood and platelet donations throughout Sept 1 to Sep 29.

All successful blood donors will receive one ticket to the Kern County Fair, and platelet donors will receive two tickets. This offer is available at all HCBB mobile blood drives and donor centers, while supplies last.

‘Community Paint Day’ takes place at Kern County Fairgrounds

In addition to the ticket giveaway, Houchin will also be raffling Unlimited Ride Wristband Vouchers every week in Sept, providing more opportunities for donors to enjoy the fair.

This promotions comes after a severe shortage in Kern County’s blood supply, particularly of O and A blood types, which are at lowest levels in a decade. HCBB is urging community members to donate and help replenish these critical resources.

“Kern County’s O and A blood type supply is the lowest we’ve seen in a decade,” Shane Hubbard, Marketing and Communications Manager at Houchin said.

The Kern County Fair will run from Sept 18 to Sept 29, offering donors a chance to enjoy the event while making a lifesaving impact.

Donors are encouraged to schedule appointments and help meet the urgent need for blood.

To make appointment, visit www.hcbb.com/schedule or call Houchin at 661-323-4222. Walk-ins are also welcome.
