New Store Focused On ‘All Things Lego’ To Open In Santa Clarita Valley

A new store for Lego-lovers is coming to Stevenson Ranch! Bricks & Minifig Santa Clarita is one of the newest locations dedicated to the colorful bricks.

Owners Helen and Jimmy Kim, along with their four children, are avid Lego enjoyers and are pleased to share their passion for the block toys with the community by opening a store dedicated to buying, selling and trading new and used Legos.

“Even when I was a kid, I obviously played with Legos. Once we had children we introduced our daughter… and once the boys started to come of age we introduced them,” Kim said.

A 22-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Kim left the service to work in law enforcement and pursue his MBA. He remembered being on patrol when Helen called him about her discovery of a Bricks & Minifigs store, which she felt held great potential for their aspirations of opening a franchise location.

“I walked in, and she was right,” Jimmy said. “It’s a phenomenal concept. It’s family-oriented,  it’s community-oriented and best of all, it’s about Legos.”

The family sought out the Santa Clarita Valley specifically as the location of their new Bricks & Minifigs store, noting that they were passingly familiar through visits to Magic Mountain and various friends.

“A lot of my peers live this way; I did my law enforcement training out here in SCV,” Kim said. So, when it came time to narrow down what territory — a lot of L.A. county territories were available — we could have chosen something closer to home, but we decided on Santa Clarita.”

The Kims eventually settled on a location in the Valencia Marketplace in Stevenson Ranch.

The space, formerly filled by Rising Sun Karate since 1998, has enough space not only to hold a classic storefront but also a secondary community room that Kim hopes to put to use as a community space, hosting prevent events such as birthday parties and team building workshops, or community creativity hours for seniors.

As a veteran-owned, law enforcement-owned, locally operated franchise store, the Kims look forward to building relationships within the community and have already started connecting with other business owners, including hosting products from newly opened Bubbs & Drizzle in their facilities.

“We want to share our passion for all things Lego-related and give them a space to not only buy Legos, but to hang out and connect with other Lego-lovers in the area,” Kim said.

Bricks & Minifigs Santa Clarita is set to host a Grand Opening on Saturday, June 1, which is also one of the Kim children’s birthday.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet “special guests,” take photos with a photo booth, and try their luck at a raffle.

The first 100 customers at Bricks & Minifigs Santa Clarita will also receive a custom minifigure, according to the store social media page.

Bricks & Minifigs Santa Clarita is also currently looking for full-time and part-time sales associates.

“Knowledge of all things Lego is going to be a plus,” Kim said.
