During the 17th graduation ceremony since the school’s founding in 2004, West Ranch High School students made their way across the stage and into the world on Wednesday night.

Of the 505 students graduating with the West Ranch Class of 2024, 232—nearly 46 percent—were recognized as honor scholars wearing gold robes.

“This milestone is not just a testament to the seniors seated before us on the field, but also the collective efforts of many individuals,”  said West Ranch High School principal Robert Fisher. “To the parents, family and friends filling the stands tonight, your love, support and guidance have been instrumental in shaping the journey of these graduates. Thank you for prioritizing education in the lives of your children.”

Senior Class speakers reflected on the last four years, starting with the unpredictability of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and ending with the mad dash of their final days in the classroom.

Speaker Taylor Langford quoted famed fictional teacher Ms. Frizzle, by saying to “take chances, make mistakes and get messy” in life.

“While we may not be surfing on a sound wave or swinging through the stars, that doesn’t mean we can’t approach life with the same sense of adventure and curiosity,” Langford said.

Speaker Amberin Rahman reflected on how West Ranch High School equipped its students with life lessons of resilience, adaptability and perseverance to tackle whatever the future holds.

“West Ranch has been more than just a school. It’s been a nurturing ground for our dreams and aspirations,” Rahman said.
