St. Cloud City Council to Discuss SCSU Programming Cuts
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- At least one St. Cloud City Council member wants to have a formal discussion on the St. Cloud State University programming and budget cuts. Karen Larson has requested that the item be added to Monday night's agenda. She says even though the university is a separate entity from the city it directly impacts the city's economy overall.

Kiley Rodarmel of Sartell recently graduated from the University of Minnesota Morris. Aleah Cole of Sartell recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Chase Heying of Sartell was named to the spring dean’s list at Luther College. Students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade-point average to qualify for this honor.
Rivard finds ‘joy’ as school superintendent
Dr. Michael Rivard expressed optimism, excitement and pride after he began his new job July 1 as superintendent of the Sartell-St. Stephen School District. Rivard, a Sartell resident, was chosen as superintendent in March of 2024 to take over from Tim Lee, who was the interim superintendent for one year. Lee had been hired to replace Jeff Ridlehoover, who resigned to become superintendent of the Rockwood School District.

Prior to the ISD 748 School Board voting to renew its administrative contracts last month, Emily (Larson), Scott (Wenshau) and Jen (Smith) made one simple demand: to first exercise their vested authority as elected representatives to discuss, amend and vote on the contracts individually, rather than passing them all in a bundle per the superintendent’s recommendation.
