On Wednesday, August 28, Tacoma police announced that a man had finally been arrested in the September 2023 death of an 18-year-old woman who was intentionally set on fire.

Around 1 a.m. on September 3, 2023, firefighters with the Tacoma Fire Department responded to a brush fire in the 2900 block of Upper Park Street.

After they extinguished the fire, they found a woman’s body in the debris.

Tacoma Police Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians began their investigation and ruled the case a homicide.

The woman was later identified as 18-year-old Chloee Moore. Her family was notified on September 6, and a GoFundMe was set up by her sister to support the family.

On Tuesday, August 27, a man in his 40s was arrested in connection with the case and booked into the Pierce County Jail for homicide by the Tacoma Police Department Controlled Substance team.

KIRO 7 is not identifying him because he has not been charged. According to the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office, he will likely be charged on Thursday.
