KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville Police Department on Monday released body camera footage from last month when officers shot a woman armed with a knife.
Officers responded to a home in the 2000 block of Belle Terra Road around 7:30 a.m. for a woman who was reportedly armed with a knife and threatening to harm herself and others.

One remarks that someone can be heard yelling from inside. The door opens and a woman, later identified as 49-year-old Shilo Rice , begins running towards the officers while holding a knife.
Officers can be heard shouting, “don’t do it” before all three began firing. Rice falls to the ground.
The officers command her to stay down and show her hands. Rice retrieves the knife before beginning to stand up. She is seen retrieving the knife before beginning to stand up. At least two more shots are fired. Rice falls to the ground again. She appears to grab the knife again when another shot is fired.

Officers are seen in the footage rendering medical aid. She was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
