    Two men dead after shooting on Merchant Drive, suspect still at large

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ( WATE ) — Two men are dead and a woman suffered a minor injury in a shooting that occurred near a bar overnight Tuesday, according to the Knoxville Police Department. A suspect who reportedly ran from the scene before officers’ arrival has not yet been located.

    KPD stated in an email Tuesday morning that its Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a shooting with multiple victims that happened on Merchant Drive; officers initially responded to the call at around 2:45 a.m. to The Pint House at 815 Merchant Drive for a reported shooting, which happened just outside the front entrance of the bar.

    “Officers arrived on scene and located three gunshot victims,” KPD stated in its news release. “One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second man was transported to the UT Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The third victim, an adult woman, suffered minor injuries from a grazing wound.”

    KPD also said that the motive for the shooting remains under active investigation. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and witness statements as of Tuesday morning.
