Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning revealed on Thursday during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he'll be at one of UT's biggest road games of the 2024 season.

Manning, who retired from the NFL after leading the Denver Broncos to a Super Bowl championship in 2015, told McAfee that he'll be in Norman on September 21 for Tennessee's game against the Oklahoma Sooners.

"I think it's (Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC) going to be awesome for the Southeastern Conference," said Manning. "I'm going to the Tennessee/Oklahoma game in Norman this year. I think it's Oklahoma's first Southeastern Conference game, they're playing my Tennessee Vols in Norman, not too far from Denver (where Manning still lives).

"I think there are going to be some immediate rivalries created with Texas and Alabama, Oklahoma and Tennessee. It's not going to take long to create these rivalries. Obviously, (Texas) A&M vs Texas, bringing that back. That's awesome, right? Bringing Texas vs Arkansas back, I think that's awesome. Both of those teams (Texas and Oklahoma) are going to fit right into the conference. It made an incredibly difficult conference even harder."

At one time, there were plenty of Vols fans who would groan anytime they saw that Peyton was going to be at a Tennessee game because he was viewed as bad luck.

But after Manning attended the Vols' win against Alabama in 2022, plus Tennessee's championship win in Omaha in 2024, it's safe to say that the "Peyton curse" is no longer a thing in the eyes of Tennessee fans. So the Sheriff should be welcomed with open arms in Norman this fall.
