    Cedric Houston named assistant coach at Grace Christian Academy

    Former Tennessee football player Cedric Houston has been named an assistant coach at Grace Christian Academy in Knoxville, Tennessee.

    Houston, a running back, played for the Vols from 2003-06 under head coach Phillip Fulmer . He will coach running backs and defensive backs for the Rams under head coach Justin Price.

    In 2006, he and Gerald Riggs Jr. , became the first two running backs to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a single season.

    Houston was a three-year starter at Tennessee and a two-time second-team All-SEC performer (2005-06). He totaled 2,634 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. Houston also recorded 39 receptions for 369 yards and one receiving touchdown.

    He was selected in the sixth-round of the 2006 NFL draft (No. 182 overall) by the New York Jets .

    The former Vol played two seasons for New York, recording 676 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Houston also posted 15 career receptions for 109 yards.
