    Tennessee swimmer Jordan Crooks finishes eighth in 50 freestyle at Paris Olympics

    Tennessee swimmer Jordan Crooks of the Cayman Islands finished eighth in the men's 50-meter freestyle at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Friday.

    Crooks finished in 21.64 seconds. Crooks swam 21.54 in the semifinals to secure a spot in the final.

    In the final, Cameron McEvoy of Australia won gold in 21.25. Benjamin Proud of Great Britain won silver, and Florent Manaudou of France won bronze.

    What to know about Jordan Crooks

    Crooks is a senior at Tennessee. During his collegiate career, he's won 21 SEC medals, was the 2022 Short Course World Champion in the 50 free and holds the school record at UT in the 50, 100 and 200 free and 100 butterfly. He competed at the 2023 Fukuoka World Championships, at which he finished in the top eight in the 50 and 100 free. He won the 2022 Short Course World Championship in the 50 free.
