Jamarii Crawford, 18, was arrested on July 27 on accomplice to attempted murder, accomplice to committing a terroristic act, accomplice to unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and engaging in a violent criminal group activity charges.

Fayetteville police responded to a shooting near the intersection of North College Avenue and West Lafayette Avenue around 1 a.m. on July 14 after receiving multiple calls, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Police found two 9mm shell casings in the northbound lanes of College Avenue.

The victim’s car was found on East Sunbridge Drive and had multiple bullet holes on the sides of the vehicle. The rear passenger window was shattered and one of the tires was flat, according to the affidavit.

Police later spoke with the victims who said they were leaving a nightclub on Dickson Street before the shooting and saw Crawford along with other men in a parking lot. Crawford and the other men got into a car and started following them, the affidavit said.

They said as they turned onto College Avenue, someone started shooting at them. Surveillance video from businesses on Dickson Street confirmed what the victim told police, according to FPD.

After being arrested, Crawford was interviewed by police and said the victims were reportedly being aggressive and threatening the group he was with.

He said he was the driver of the vehicle and four other people were with him.

Crawford said he drove after the vehicle and once the cars were parallel, he and others in the vehicle rolled down their windows. A passenger in the vehicle fired at the vehicle before they fled, Crawford said.

Fayetteville police said the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are pending.

Crawford is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $750,000 bond and his trial date is set for September 24.
