    Missouri Southern football drops its 2024 season opener

    WICHITA FALLS, Tex. -- Missouri Southern football loses its 2024 season-opener, 18-11 to Midwestern State on Thursday night.

    The Lions were outgained 256-241 by the Mustangs. They passed for 126 yards and rushed for 115.

    MSSU had eight penalties for 69 yards.

    The Lions' starting running back Nathan Glades, tight end Deontay Campbell, and wide receiver Akeem Gilmore all did not play in the game.

    MSSU QB Luke Sampson finishes 15-26 for 126 pass yards with 1 interception.

    Missouri Southern faces #6 Pitt State at home next Saturday -- September 7th.
