    Things to do in Portland for Memorial Day weekend

    PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — The Rose City is hosting a variety of events for Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start to summer.

    Portland Rose Festival Opening Night and Fireworks

    When: Friday, May 24 at 5 p.m.
    Where: Tom McCall Waterfront Park, 98 SW Naito Pkwy, Portland, OR 97204

    The annual Rose Festival will open with a ribbon-cutting, live bands, DJs and, of course, a fireworks display that kicks off at 9:50 p.m.

    21+ Taylor Rave

    When: Friday, May 25 at 10 p.m.
    Where: McMenamins Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W Burnside St., Portland, OR 97209

    The dance-party hosts at Candi Pop are bringing their Swiftie-themed rave back to the Crystal Ballroom. The popular venue will play Taylor Swift all night long, including the pop star’s original tracks, re-recordings and remixes.

    Holi Spring Harvest Festival

    When: Saturday, May 25 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    Where: Topaz Farm, 17100 NW Sauvie Island Rd, Portland, OR 97231

    After two sold-out years, Topaz Farm is hosting its Holi Spring Harvest Festival for the third time. The event features music from DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid, farm animals, a dance party and Portland food vendors.

    Multnomah County Fair

    When: Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27
    Where: Oaks Amusement Park, 7805 SE Oaks Park Way, Portland, OR 97202

    Oaks Amusement Park will hold the three-day Multnomah County Fair featuring amusement rides, performances, roller skating, lucha libre wrestling and more. Admission is free for all ages.

    Sesame Street Live! Say Hello

    When: Sunday, May 26 at 2 p.m.
    Where: Keller Auditorium, 222 SW Clay St, Portland, OR 97201

    Bring the kids to see Elmo, the Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby and friends live. “In ‘Sesame Street Live! Say Hello,’ you can sing and dance with your favorite furry friends while enjoying fun surprises along the way,” event organizers said.

    Ruck March

    When: Monday, May 27 at 8 a.m.
    Where: University of Portland, 5000 N Willamette Blvd. Portland, OR 97203

    Do Good Multnomah serves the local homeless community. The nonprofit organization’s yearly Ruck March doubles as a fundraiser for veterans’ mental health services. It’s not too late to register for the four-mile, six-mile or 12-mile march for $50.

    Memorial Day Ceremony

    When: Mon. May 27, 2024, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
    Where: Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, OR

    The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will host a formal Memorial Day Ceremony in which veterans, family and friends can honor those who died in service.
