(AP) — Students at Jefferson County Middle School (JCMS) recently embarked on a thrilling journey into the realm of drone technology as part of their STEM elective program. Under the guidance of the Central Oregon STEM Hub, students at JCMS had the opportunity to delve into the intricacies of drone piloting. The highlight of their experience was navigating drones through an obstacle course, aiming to skillfully land them within a designated square. Facilitated by a collaboration with the Central Oregon STEM Hub, students were treated to a special session led by an expert from NASA. This unique opportunity allowed them to gain insights into the fascinating world of drone piloting and explore potential future career paths. The initiative, spearheaded by the school district, underscores the importance of hands-on learning experiences in fostering students' interest and proficiency in STEM subjects.
