A bug called the Lanternfly has made its way to Texas.

They grow to an inch to an inch and a half long and have large, spotted wings with red and black coloring on the inner wing. Ashley Morgan-Olvera with the Texas Invasive Species Institute says it is an invasive pest because it isn't native to our ecosystem and it causes harm.

She also says it can fly pretty far and lays eggs on nearly all surfaces. It has been seen in five Southeast Texas counties: Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, and Hardin.
