ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The first half was full of exciting plays and hope for the Lobo football team. The second half was not.

After opening the game on a 17-0 run, UNM’s lead slowly shrank in the fourth quarter. The Lobos conceded 21 unanswered points, including a game winning touchdown with 10 second remaining. UNM lost 31-35.

Scoring was limited for the UNM offense. After scoring two first half touchdowns, the Lobos were shut out of the entire second half on offense. Kicker Luke Drzewiecki missed two second half field goals.

Despite two scoop-and-score touchdowns, it was a poor outing for the UNM defense. Montana State racked up 567 yards of total offense, including 362 yards rushing. The Bobcats averaged 7.7 yards per rush.

UNM quarterback Devon Dampier finished the game 18-26 for 172 yards and one touchdown. He added 35 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

Luke Wysong was the team’s leading receiver with six receptions for 95 yards with a long of 53. Eli Sanders led the team on the ground with 87 yards on 17 carries.

UNM now looks ahead to next Saturday in Tucson against nationally ranked Arizona. That game has an 8:30 p.m. kickoff on ESPN.
