TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – A local food truck is asking for help after saying someone stole more than $5,000 worth of equipment.

La Creperie Co., a Topeka food truck that specializes in the popular French deserts, is out of power. Staff say someone stole their $5,000 inverter along with multiple full gas tanks.

Owner Carmen Romero-Nichols says this is a huge blow to their business, especially right before a major food truck festival .

“In the food truck community, it’s probably the biggest event of the year and we have to start preparing weeks in advance,” Romero-Nichols said. “We can’t power the truck without them, and we use a lot of power in our food truck because we run several machines.”

La Creperie Co. was scheduled for an event on Wednesday, Aug. 14 and Romero-Nichols said it could only pull it off after another food truck loaned some equipment.
