MLF ‘Century Club’ Commemorative Coins Start Hitting Mailboxes
BENTON, Ky. (July 3, 2024) – Last week, the first round of MLF Century Club coins headed out to anglers who have fished 100 or more events with MLF or its predecessors, FLW and Operation Bass. It’s a mailing list that includes Bass Pro Tour stalwarts like Jacob Wheeler and Andy Morgan as well as hundreds of regional anglers — and quite possibly someone you know.
Calvert City Police Dept. Arrest Report
Calvert City, KY (July 02, 2024) – On June 16, 2024 the Calvert City Police Department was dispatched to 71 Oaklawn Lane in reference to a complaint of a neighbor who is on the trespass log for that residence driving through their yard. While investigating, it was discovered that the same neighbor damaged a flag while weed-eating on another neighbor’s property. The incident was recorded on video. The Calvert City Police Department obtained a criminal summons for the offense. On June 28, 2024 Brian A. Bledsoe, 40, of Benton was served a Marshall County Criminal Summons for criminal mischief 3rd degree.
KSP crime report shows significant increase in human trafficking crimes
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - KSP’s newly released ‘Crime in Kentucky’ report covers a wide range of serious crimes committed across the commonwealth. While human trafficking crimes make up a small percentage of overall offenses in Kentucky (0.03%), they’ve made the biggest jump, percentagewise. The report shows a nearly 40 percent rise from 2022 to 2023.
A few natural fireworks for Independence Day
It definitely felt like early July across Central and Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday as we rapidly approach Independence Day and the long holiday weekends for many folks. Some early cloudiness gave way to some sunshine which really allowed afternoon highs to heat up as expected. Most locations topped out in the upper 80s and low 90s and with higher dewpoints our “feel-like” temperatures were close to 100 degrees in a few locations. A frontal boundary is off to our northwest and this will be our main player relative to our weather heading into the 4th of July.
