Massive solar farm planned for coal mine site in eastern Kentucky
A massive solar farm is in the works at the site of one of the largest coal mines in southern Appalachia. BrightNight, the developer behind the planned farm at the decades-old Starfire coal mine near Hazard, Kentucky, says the project could help reinvigorate a region where thousands of mining jobs have been lost. Construction on the first phases could begin as soon as 2026.

Princeton man facing numerous charges following pursuit
A Princeton man is facing numerous charges following a pursuit that began on Dawson Road in Caldwell County Monday that resulted in multiple agencies being involved. According to a news release from the Princeton Police Department, officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle operating at a high-rate of speed, but the driver reportedly failed to stop and fled down several streets.

Farmington’s Vaal gets the win at Phoenix Bass Fishing League event on Kentucky-Barkley Lakes
GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. (July 22, 2024) – Boater Dustin Vaal of Farmington, Kentucky, caught a three-bass limit weighing 14 pounds, 6 ounces, Saturday to win the MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL) Presented by T-H Marine on Kentucky-Barkley Lakes . Hosted by the Kentucky Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau, the tournament was the fourth event of the season for the BFL LBL Division. Vaal earned $4,163 for his victory.
