MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — “Hey, hold on,” said Kari Danielson, librarian, Edison Elementary School. “What’s that?”

Kari Danielson was a busy stay-at-home-mom raising four boys.
Becoming a librarian was never on her radar.
But given how much time she spent volunteering at Edison Elementary School, administration took notice.

“They talked me into it and I tried it, and I love it,” Mrs. Danielson said. “It’s I absolutely love coming to work every.”

12 years later, she’s never looked back.
Mrs. Danielson, as the kids know her, is somebody they all look forward to spending time with.
And who wouldn’t when you get a smile and a hug, if you so choose?

“They reach out and they hug and sometimes they tell me I give bear hugs,” Mrs. Danielson said. “So then sometimes they like to give tighter ones to see if they can give them tighter than Mr. Danielson.”

Getting those bear hugs in return make her day as well.

“Hugs just charge my battery. How can you not love a hug,” Mrs. Danielson asked.

Mrs. Danielson says there’s a lot to look forward to when coming to the library.
    Reading time is a favorite.

“And peanut butter,” Mrs. Danielson exclaimed. “Ugh. The chunky kind!”

Reading time has other perks as well.

“They come in and they sit down they take turns sitting in the special chairs,” Mrs. Danielson said. “And then if they’re extra, extra good, then they get to sit in it for the next.”

    Another favorite?

“Well, kids always want pets. They love pets,” Mrs. Danielson said. “So, I thought well, we’ll have a class pet.”

The class pet quickly turned into pets, and for good reason.

“They don’t like to be alone,” Mrs. Danielson explained. “They have to be more than one. Because they live in packs, I guess they call it. So the kids teach me all kinds of stuff. They teach me all kinds of things about guinea pigs. “

She says she’s always learning something new from her students.
As for something new herself, Danielson says that story hasn’t been written yet.

“I will still be here. As long as they’ll keep me, I’ll still be here,” Mrs. Danielson said. “Kids asked me that too. Are you going to stay here forever? And I’m like, probably!”

Mrs. Kari Danielson, a librarian who is bound to lift your spirits, is Someone You Should Know.
