MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — It’s a classic movie that’s almost 40 years old, and a cast of women is bringing Steel Magnolias to the stage in Minot.

The Mouse River Players are preparing to put on the classic portrayal on stage next month.

The all-female production follows the bond a group of women share in a small southern community.

The show begins on Friday, September 13 with shows at 7:30 p.m. The cast has performances again the weekend of the 20th through the 22nd.

Cast members say even if you’ve seen the movie, this is no simple re-run.

“It’s a great character study in a lot of ways. It’s an enjoyable show. There’s humor, as I said before, and they are going to enjoy these characters and what they bring to each other,” said Cheryl Nilsen, one of the actresses.

Tickets to the show are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors and members of the military.

Next month, the Mouse River players are also hosting auditions for the upcoming Rogers and Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella.’
