Austin teen stars in new movie ‘AfrAId’

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 13-year-old from Austin is making a name for himself in Hollywood and will be back on screens nationwide on Labor Day.

Wyatt Lindner, 13, has starred in movies and television series since 2018. Lindner booked his first commercial at the young age of four.

He is best known for his role in the TV series Titans , Apple TV’s Little America and his latest film AfrAId , a Blumhouse production, which will be hitting the box office this Labor Day.

Lindner sat down with our KXAN Live Anchor Esmeralda Zamora on Monday at 11 a.m. for a live Q&A. Lindner shared how he balances his acting career and his school work, saying he takes time while on set to study but it does get difficult.

“You miss a lot of the curriculum and when you come back there are a lot of tests to take and you’re not fully caught up,” Lindner said.

Lindner has a second film releasing this year called ‘Carved’. It is a thriller set to hit the box office around Halloween this year. “It’s about a killer pumpkin and a brother and a sister trying to figure it out,” Lindner said.

Throughout his acting career, Lindner has been working with a majority of actors older than him but, in the new film AfrAId, Lindner said he gained friends on set more his age. “For AfrAId there is one scene with two kids my age, and we actually became like pretty good friends. The next time I went back to California I got to hang out at their house, and it was pretty cool,” Lindner said.

When Lindner is home in Austin and not off filming on set in California, he lives a normal life. He mentioned he and his school friends don’t talk much about his acting — he prefers to focus on friendships, he said it’s the same at home with his siblings.

“They kind of already know I do acting but, we don’t really bring it up that much,” Lindner said.
