A dream comes true for a former Garry Middle School baseball coach

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The renovation of Garry Middle School's baseball field by the 4 News Now Extreme Team is one former coach's dream come true.

Robert Burns coached the Garry Middle School baseball team in the early '80s and '90s.

Back then, the field was all grass.

He advocated for a new facility, but was shut down when he tried to rebuild the field 30 years ago.

On Thursday, Mark Peterson and the 4 News Now Extreme Team revealed the school's upgraded baseball field.

The team worked all week to give it new grass, a diamond, fencing and updated bathrooms.

Burns said students are finally getting the field they deserve.

"They deserve everything they get. And our kids, we've always prided in our kids' work on the field. As coaches, we help them get started, but they prepared the field, it's their field," said Burns.
