Scholarships available for summer camps and youth swim lessons

SPOKANE, Wash. -- It's almost time to get outside, explore some nature, jump in the pool and soak up the sun with summer camps and swim lessons!

The City of Spokane will offer a variety of summer camps and activities for children and teens throughout the summer.

Scholarships are available to families who need financial assistance to enroll their child in one of the summer programs.

Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis for the 2024 Youth and Teen Outdoor Adventure Summer Camp and for youth swim lessons provided by the city's Parks and Recreation Department.

The Outdoor Adventure Camp, based at Riverside State Park Bowl & Pitcher Picnic Shelter, will run from June 24 through August 18 for kids ages 8-15.

Families can register their child for one or multiple weeks throughout the summer. The camp meets daily and breaks into groups of 12 children or less to paddleboard, rock climb, disc golf, swim and explore local nature. The total cost without a scholarship is $399 for one week.

Swim lessons are available for babies and children ages 6 month - 12 years at six aquatic centers across Spokane. Without a scholarship, the cost of one swim lesson is roughly $50.
