New FL Publix In A Shopping Center With Nail Salon & Restaurant Is Having A Grand Opening & Freebie

Jacksonville residents who are fans of Publix may be happy to know that not only are they getting a new Publix, but it is opening this week.

Most Floridians are well aware that Publix has been adding new locations across the Sunshine State - either by building new stores or refurbishing old ones. I've recently written about planned stores in Howey-in-the Hills and Nocatee, a new Apollo Beach store, a Fort Myers store closing for a year for refurbishments, an upcoming Coral Gables Publix that will have a public park, and 21 new Florida stores listed as "coming soon" on Publix's website. And now a new Publix will open in Jacksonville.

The Plaza At Normandy In Jacksonville: Publix will be the anchor in the shopping center The Plaza At Normandy, which is located at 11341 Normandy Boulevard. The 46,791-square-foot store will be in a shopping center with a Publix Liquor Store, an AT&T, an Encore Nails, a UPS Store, and an Xtreme Wings.

The New Publix Grand Opening: The store is apparently meeting its expected opening date of August 15, 2024, as the store's Facebook page indicated that the first 1,000 customers at the store's August 15th grand opening will receive a free reusable bag. On that same page, 2.6K people "responded."

Jacksonville already has a Publix at 7749 Normandy Boulevard. That store is highly rated, earning 4.5 out of 5 stars on Google reviews after being rated over 2,800 times. Although most people complimented the store, there were some complaints about wait times, particularly at the deli and hot case.

A reviewer named Cameron wrote, in part:

"(I) have been shopping at this Publix for a few months now... Today was at least the third time I waited in a huge line for...the one item I wanted to always be sold out - the breaded shrimp. That container sits empty while the rest of the chicken wings and other items are full...C'mon guys. It’s fried shrimp in Florida, can we get with the program?"

Perhaps having a new Publix nearby will help with some of the long lines.
