House move set for July 17 on Oak Island
OAK ISLAND, N.C. (WECT) - The Town of Oak Island announced that a house move is set for Wednesday, July 17, at 10 a.m. from Ocean Drive to NE 10th Street. “During this time, traffic will be HEAVILY impacted along ALL of E Oak Island Drive, particularly from Sellers Street to NE 9th Street. Officers will direct traffic as the home is moved; however travel along E Oak Island Drive should be avoided during this time if possible. If traveling this area, please be patient, follow the directions of officers, and DO NOT SPEED when using side streets as detours,” a town announcement states.

Woman arrested after nearly hitting officer with car in Kinston
LENOIR COUNTY, NC — A Lenoir County woman was jailed on multiple charges after nearly striking a law enforcement officer with her vehicle early Monday morning in Kinston. 24-year-old Shaniya Thompson was arrested and charged with felony flee elude, driving while impaired, assault on a law enforcement officer, reckless driving to endanger, and multiple traffic violations.

DEEP RUN - A Jacksonville man was arrested Friday night by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies after returning to the scene of where he broke into the day before. Dakota Babin, 27, was arrested at the Blue Hornet Country Store, 6409 Hwy. 258 South, after Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office B-Shift deputies received a call he was back on the premises. Babin, who has multiple outstanding warrants in Onslow County, was a suspect in a break-in at the same store on Thursday. LCSO deputies had investigated that break-in earlier Friday before Babin returned later that evening.
